Valentine’s Day cookies don’t always have to be covered in sprinkles.  Sometimes, a little bit of bold outlines and a pop of colour can turn a simple sugar cookie into something that looks like it jumped right out of a comic book.  These Valentine Comic Cookies are crisp around the edges, soft in the middle and topped with colourful royal icing in shades of pink and red.  The thick black border gives them that unmistakable comic-book look, while the white highlights make the hearts appear almost 3-dimensional.  It may look impressive but the technique is much easier than it seems.
